Hello! I’m not super well versed re: air quality/purification, and had a quick question.
My apartment is just over 1000sqft. We have a large central room, with two smaller rooms branching off.
I’m looking at getting Airdog X-series purifiers. If I get an X5, which is rated for 1600sqft, and place it in that large central room, do you think that’d be sufficient for cleaning the side rooms as well, provided doors are left open?
Or would I be better off just getting an X3 (rated for 860sqft) for each side room (the office & bedroom, where we spend most of our time) and calling it good?
If this is a question better directed at the company, apologies. Otherwise, any insight is much appreciated!
Thanks for joining and great question! Honestly, I’m not an expert on air purifiers myself, but I can speak a bit from experience with the devices I have used.
In the past when I’ve tested air purifiers, I’ve sometimes monitored the air quality in not just the room that the device is placed in, but also in neighbouring rooms. Generally speaking, I’ve seen an improvement in the air quality in those rooms, but the rate of change is much slower and the air never gets quite as clean as in the primary room where the device is situated.
With that said, I would imagine this really comes down to the positioning of the rooms and airflow/ventilation. If air is circulating between the rooms, I would guess the improvement in air quality would be far more noticeable than if the air is quite stagnant. Do you have an air quality monitor? This could be an interesting test to carry out.
I would say that two devices is a better idea here if you spend most of the time in the two adjacent rooms anyway. Even at 860sqft, they are almost rated to clean your whole apartment! This also comes with the added bonus of meaning you don’t always need to keep the doors open.
