Not to bring up this topic again, as I believe that the conclusions we reached before were correct, but I believe there is another factor at play here. I’ve recently been testing another SCD41 device for the review below, and it exhibits the same issues of having significantly varying readings depending on temperature. I have a lot more data that I haven’t yet graphed, but the readings appear to drop (comparatively to the Aranet4) when in the fridge and increase significantly when outside (I am in Vietnam, where the outdoor temperature in the container can easily reach 40 degrees Celsius).
In the fridge, it could definitely be due to noise, vibrations, or otherwise, but I’m struggling to think about what could be causing the issue outdoors besides temperature. I have also recently learnt about the impact of air pressure on readings, but this shouldn’t be impacting it here at a low altitude.
I’ve now noticed this across three SCD41 devices and I’m not sure what causes it.
