I am looking at air quality indicators, and have read most reviews on here. This website is amazing btw! I have ended up with having to decide between the AirGradient ONE and the Air-Q Basic. I am aware of the pros and cons of each, but am unable to decide which to chose. Any advice?
Thanks for joining and great question! I will first preface this by saying that I do now work with AirGradient (but my reviews were written before I joined the team), so please keep that in mind here.
Overall, I really like both devices. I think the Air-Q device is more well-rounded with the sensor selection (at least, if you purchase the Air-Q Basic - I don’t really like the Air-Q Light’s sensor arrangement) but it can also be a bit overwhelming since the app and device are so powerful - this can be good or bad depending on how you want to use the device.
The AirGradient ONE is significantly cheaper, but it offers a few less sensors. It’s an easier to use device (but it’s still not as easy to use as other devices), but still manages to retain a lot of the more advanced features.
I think it comes down to two key points:
What is your ideal price range?
Do you have a want/need for sensors like carbon monoxide or formaldehyde?
If you want the extra sensors and don’t mind the price, I think the Air-Q monitors are great (I actually went ahead and bought one myself). However, if you can’t justify the higher price tag or don’t see the added value in these additional sensors, AirGradient is likely a better choice.
Please let me know if you have any further questions about either device!
